REVIEW: LAURA MERCIER INTENSE CLAYS EDITORIAL EYE PALETTE

IMG_2069.JPG

Hi everyone! I’ve been meaning to do this post for quite some time now, and I’m so excited to share this review with you. I was sent a  Laura Mercier Intense Clays Editorial Eye Palette  via Influenster complimentary to try out and review. If you don’t know what Influenster is, it’s a site that sends users free product of all different categories to test out and give honest reviews. I’m going to make this short and sweet for you guys, so here it goes. As you can see in the photo above, the shadows are pretty pigmented. There are three matte colors, three shimmers and a setting powder. I’m not much of a heavy smokey eye girl, but if you are this would definitely be the perfect palette for you. I like how simple it is, and not intimidating with a ton of colors. The matte shades pick up well on a brush, but I will say the metallic shades applied better with finger tips. I created a really simple look which you can view a mini tutorial and a picture of on my Instagram which is @cecily_mua. I only used three of the shades which is un heard of for me, because I always feel like I have to use multiple shades to create a smokey eye. The dark colors blend sooo easily and gave a really nice gradient look.

The one thing I really like in the palette is actually the setting powder. It’s meant to go on top of a finished eye shadow look to set the colors in place all day. It has a slight shimmer to it as well, but not enough to change the look of the shadows. I struggle with pretty oily eyelids and they are also slightly hooded. This makes it hard to wear smokey eyes because it will end up creasing half way through the day. These shadows stayed in place ALL day with the setting powder. I was so impressed I’m definitely going to use the setting powder with other eye shadows and every look I create.

Overall its a beautiful, simple palette. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a nice, small palette with a BOMB setting powder I would check it out for sure. Laura Mercier is the queen of setting powders for the face, so it was definitely a brilliant idea to create one for the eyes. I hope you guys liked this review, and as always feel free to send me any feedback, or things you would like to see/read about. Thank you for reading!

REVIEW: BRIOGEO HAIR PRODUCTS

Hi! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving, I know I did! I really wanted to give my opinion and review on these Briogeo products I was sent to try via Influenster, so here it goes! By the way, if you don’t know what Influenster is, you should. Okay, so I was sent the heartBriogeo Blossom + Bloom Volumizing with ginseng + biotin collection. This includes their shampoo, conditioner, and volume spray as picture below.

First, a little background about the brand. Briogeo is more of a natural hair care line, which anything natural in my opinion is an automatic plus. None of their hair care products contain any of the harsh ingredients such as silicones, sulfates, pththalates, parabens, DEA, or artificial dyes. Which means it is also safe for color treated hair, because some of those ingredients can strip out hair color. They are also cruelty-free, vegan, and gluten-free.

This line- the volumizing line, is meant for people with thin, limp hair. Which is definitely me, I have thin hair but a lot of it. So products tend to weigh my hair down as well as dry my color treated hair out. The products in this line are also supposed to help hydrate and provide long-term growth support. I’m now just going to go through each product and give the run-down.

Shampoo: first of all, the scent in this whole line is amazing. It’s so sweet and pleasant. I do like the shampoo for the most part. I feel like it does what it says it’s supposed to do and make my hair feel thicker as well as hydrated. The only down side is that I feel like it takes quite a bit of product to form a lather, or it just takes a while to lather up. I love that squeaky clean feeling I get from a lathering shampoo, and this one just isn’t that instant lather product. BUT disclaimer- sulfates are typically whats found in shampoos that lather easily, which can be drying and harsh on the hair. So since their products don’t have sulfates- maybe that’s why. So I really shouldn’t be complaining haha.

Conditioner- again, scent (amazing). I love how rich and hydrating this conditioner is! My hair truly feels soft and looks shiny after I started using this. I definitely really do like the conditioner. But I also feel like since my hair is pretty dry on the ends, I do love most conditioners I try. The yummy scent I feel is what sets this one apart from the others.

Volume Spray- ehhhhh. This was really the only product I didn’t enjoy from this line. I feel like no volume spray I’ve tried really volumizes. I sprayed this one at first just lightly throughout the mid to end of my hair after I towel-tried my hair. I then followed with blowdrying, and flipped my head over and added the heat a couple of times that way until my hair was dry. My hair still looked pretty limp. I looked on the packaging, and it said it can be used even on the scalp as a treatment to help clarify the hair and head which I’m ALL about. I tend to have more of a dry flaky scalp, but also tends to hold onto product residue and get oily fast. So the second time I sprayed it, I sprayed a generous amount throughout my hair and scalp and massaged in. This left my hair EXTREMELY weighed down, and my scalp got oily within the day. So maybe I just can’t figure out how to use this product right, but I just wasn’t a fan.

Overall: I did enjoy this line and will continue to use it until it’s empty. I probably wouldn’t purchase this particular line, but I would love to try what else Briogeo has. I’m so excited because my new store carries the full line so I can easily smell/try their other products. I really think it’s awesome that they are natural as well, I know a lot of people these days really look for that. I’m so glad I got to try some of this product line though, thanks Influenster!  I hope you guys enjoyed this review, please make sure you visit my contact page and or comment on this post to let me know your thoughts. Also any suggestions for my next posts would be welcome and appreciated!
