HELLO, SUMMER! MY GO-TO PRODUCTS FOR THE SEASON

Hi everyone! In this post, I’m going to talk about some of my go-to products that I will be using all summer. Besides work, I don’t really plan on doing a full glam look every day this summer. However, if I’m going to the pool or doing something casual, these are the products I have already been using/ plan on using this season. I live in Arizona, and it gets hot as HELL here so these products will protect your skin/be sweat-proof and waterproof to last all day. Without further ado, here they are!

So I am going to in order on how you would apply these products starting with primer:

heartToo Faced Hangover Face Primer– $32. This primer is B O M B. It is coconut water infused- so it is SUPER hydrating for the skin, but it’s not greasy-hydrating like some primers can be. I’m oily, and I actually love and can use this primer. It has a lovely scent to it too and it just feels so refreshing to pat it into the skin. This primer also has probiotics and skin revivers to help wake up and refresh your skin- especially if you are feeling dull and tired. This can actually double as a moisturizer too- so if you’re someone who doesn’t like to layer too many products on your skin before makeup, this would be perfect for you. Plus, glycerin as an ingredient also helps to really adhere makeup to your skin and keep it on all day.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC Cream with SPF 50+– $38. So this product has been popular for quite some time now and I’ve always heard great things about it. A few months ago when Sephora finally got IT Cosmetics in, I purchased one to see what the hype was about. Honestly it’s amazing… this product is so versatile. You can use a pump with your fingertips and get a nice even coverage if you’re going to the pool, or going to run some errands. OR you can use a sponge or a brush to get a super FULL coverage for a night out. The best part about this foundation is that its soo good for your skin. It is full of hydration, its anti-aging, and it has vitamins A, B, C, and E that address many skin concerns. And the SPF is amazing! Its rare to find a product with SPF 50! The hype is real and worth it on this one for sure.

heartBenefit Cosmetics GALifornia Sunny Golden Pink Blush– $29. Soooo ever since I got this blush, at the end of April, I haven’t used anything else. It’s honestly the perfect summer shade! It goes with every kind of look too and I think that’s why I’m constantly picking it up. It is described as a “bright pink with shimmering gold”, which gives overall a peachy appearance. What’s nice about peachy tones, is that they look good on literally every skin tone. Also what’s lovely about this blush is that it has a pink grapefruit and vanilla scent! It smells like you’re on vacation! Perfect summer blush if you have been looking for one.

heartToo Faced – Dark Chocolate Soleil Deep/Tan Matte Bronzer– $30. I’ve been a fan of the Too Faced bronzers for years now, they will always be my go-to. In the Chocolate Soleil franchise, it comes in three shades, basically a light, medium, and dark. All of them are matte (no shimmer) and with a very neutral undertone. I’m currently using the Dark Chocolate one for my contour and I love how buttery it glides on the skin, and how natural it looks. You can use these to contour, or you can dust it all over to warm up your skin and give a natural faux-tan kind of look! Perfect if you self-tan or have a natural tan and you need your face to match your body. It is infused with cocoa powder, so it is very hydrating for the skin. Also, yes, it has a heavenly chocolate scent (and technically taste too if you happen to get some flecks on your lips/tongue) ๐Ÿ™‚

heartHourglass Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner– $34. Ahhhh. Last month I mentioned a liquid liner that I loved, because I am a liquid liner girl. I recently started using this one and I fell in love! Felt tips are awesome and super easy to use, and Hourglass recently launched this one. It makes creating wings so easy and seamless, the brush just glides on. What I love about this one too is how long-wearing and waterproof it is. My left eye is constantly watering, and I usually have to re-apply my liner in the corner because it will come off from the watering. I was with a friend recently out and of course my eye was watering. I kept asking him, “is my wing messed up?!” and he kept saying yes but I thought for sure he was lying because I had kept wiping it. I looked in my phone front-camera- and sure enough it was still there! That’s when I knew this liner was the real deal.

heartToo Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara– $23. Let me start off by saying in the past, I never liked the Better Than Sex Mascara. I don’t know why really, but I also don’t really remember the last time I tried it. I gave the waterproof version a try recently and I forgot why I hated it! The hourglass shaped brush gives the most insane volume with only a couple of strokes. It gives that awesome false lash look we all want in a mascara. I did give it the true test too, I went swimming with it on and it did not budge. I even rubbed my eyes and no smearing! It’s perfect for the summer and water activities if you still want to wear mascara. And yes, as long as you have a good eye makeup remover (I recommend an oil based)- it will come off easily.

heartTarte Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist– $25. Last but not least, setting spray! Any kind is really a must have for the summer to set and refresh your skin, but I like this one because it really has a ton of skincare benefits. The four things it can do is act as a primer, setting spray, hydrating mist, and a skin refresher. I’ve been using it before applying my skin care as almost a booster for the products that I apply after. I also use it as a setting spray, and a refresher if I’m out at the pool and I need a pick me up. It has soooo many ingredients that are great for your skin to help soothe, hydrate and refresh the skin. The scent is beautiful as well, I could bathe in this stuff!

Well that’s it for my summer go-tos, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this! I would love to hear what you think of these if you already have them, or if you go and purchase them! What are YOUR summer go-to products?! I wanna know!

NEW BRAND ALERT: PRETTY VULGAR

Hi everyone! So sorry it’s been so long since I posted last, a lot of changes have been happening in my life! I recently after almostย 4 years, left Sephora. I decided to pursue my freelance career which is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with my decision! I will miss Sephora a lot, and I am so happy to have had the experience.

Ok back to the review, so I am going to be talking about some products I purchased from a brand new brand that recently launched on Sephora.com. And yes, the brand is really called “Pretty Vulgar” haha. Here’s a little background on the brand:

According to their website, prettyvulgar.com, they were created by a group of makeup artists, industry vets, and innovators who were inspired by the different colors and characteristics of birds around them (hence the bird cages on their packaging). What I also learned, and what I LOVE about the brand is that they are cruelty-free, free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates and more. Which is important to me, because those ingredients can be super harmful to the skin and break you out.

Also, the brand really believes in celebrating your personal uniqueness that makes you you, and encourages diversity, trying new things, and learning from each other. Pretty neat concept, I love the positivism and how they accept all types of girls and guys weather you’re super girly, or more on the edgy side. I’m assuming that’s how they came up with the name “Pretty Vulgar” since those words are quite opposite.

Lets talk about product. I purchased two items in the line that I feel I use the most: setting spray and lipstick. The packaging honestly is what really made me curious about the line, I mean just look how girly and adorable it is!

I’m obsessed. So the setting spray is called the Lock it In Setting Spray and it retails for $30. I’m kinda sad because I thought it would have the old school sprayer where you squeeze the pink handle, but it’s just for looks. So this is just a regular setting spray that all skin types can use to extend the wear of your makeup, and add moisture to your skin. I feel like it did just that, and I do really like the product. I feel like setting spray in general is a must-have, because it really just melts any powders into the skin, making the makeup appear over-all more skin-like. This one has no scent at all, which was kind of disappointing but in all honesty better, because fragrance can be a skin irritant. Overall I definitely love this product, and I love how beautiful it looks on my vanity!

The second product I got is their My Lips are Sealed Liquid Lipstickย in the shade Secret Sabotage which goes for $24 a tube. I’m going to start off by saying how much I adore this color. It is a beautiful metallic mauve-nude color and whenever I wear it I get so many compliments from strangers! That rarely happens when I wear a lip color, so I know this one is special. The formula is definitely like a vinyl-gloss, not so much a “liquid lipstick”. I was thinking this would be like a metallic stain to where it would completely dry down and not transfer. But it’s definitely more of a long-wear gloss, which is still nice because it does last a long time on the lips. It also isn’t sticky, and it doesn’t dry your lips out like some glosses can.

I am super impressed with this brand, the packaging is adorable, and the products are top quality. I can’t wait to try some more items out from this line!! You guys should check them out as well and let me know what you end up trying!

Until next time (which hopefully won’t be too long),
